"How much are you making?" is a very common and also one of the most "stupid" objections you'll get when prospecting. The reason why it's stupid because it comes from prospect's assumption that whatever you're making (or not making) it's going to be the same for them too. Although this is far from the truth and entire book could be written about it, lets just focus here on how to actually answer this question like a pro for the best possible results.

It It You Who Controls The Conversation

First of all, he who asks questions controls the conversation. When you're prospecting, it is you who controls the conversation and it's you who ask questions. Whenever you're hit with a question by your prospect, make sure to:
  1. Answer the question, and then immediately
  2. Hit your prospect back with next question in your agenda. This will allow you to get back your control.

How Much Are You Making?

Here's a common scenario how top-achiever in this industry handle with this question.

Joh: "So, how much are you making?"
You: "Well John, it's not about how much I make, it's about what you're going to do."
